PAINFUL SEX
My passion is to help patients with vaginismus, vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, chronic pelvic pain, pudendal neuralgia and any other painful conditions of the pelvis. I have a particular interest in unconsummated marriages and love guiding couples toward having their first amazing and beautifully intimate experience.
I have presented the excellent results we’ve obtained in our multi-disciplinary team management of various sexual health related conditions and difficulties at various international conferences, and my interest in this field is demonstrated by gathering data towards a PhD-level research project on penetration disorders.

HORMONES
Although I don’t specialise as an endocrinologist or specialist physician, I certainly would have had to close my practice if I didn’t know a thing or two about hormones! Hormones play such an important role in the sexual functioning of both men and women.
Testosterone plays an especially important role in our sexual desire, arousal, reaching orgasm, and even in the experience of sexual pain. Testosterone is decreased by the contraceptive pill and other medications and it also decreases with age in both men and in women. We use testosterone off-label in women with sexual dysfunction and proven low testosterone. In men we have registered products available in South Africa. Testosterone is given according to international guidelines and under very close monitoring.
Still, sexual health is about much more than just testosterone. If the adrenal glands, thyroid, brain hormones (neurotransmitters), insulin and immune system are not all healthy, people become chronically tired, overweight and hardly ever feel in the mood for sex. We have to look at all of these hormones and their functionalities holistically. Managing healthy hormone levels is about a lifestyle rather than just popping pills, and the effects are often nothing short of life-changing!
Many people have been told by doctors that their hormones are “normal” because they are within the accepted reference ranges, but their balances might still be out, which often leaves them struggling with the scale, infertile, frigid and frustrated. Let’s have your hormone levels checked!
ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION and PREMATURE EJACULATION
I am fully aware and sensitive to how frustrating and embarrassing erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculations can be for any man. I attend international conferences annually to ensure I am up to date with the latest knowledge regarding the treatment of these conditions. Patients are often surprised at how easily this condition can be treated! Don’t suffer in silence – make an appointment and let’s sort it out!
