I a medical doctor and Sexologist and I work exclusively in the field of sexual medicine. I have been doing Sexual Medicine full-time since 2010 but I qualified as a medical doctor in South Africa, through the University of Pretoria, in 2005.
I would like you to know that I am exceptionally passionate about Sexual Health! You will see that have made every possible effort to qualify myself in the field of Sexual Medicine and I continue to improve my knowledge and skills by being involved in various organisations, conducting research, presenting at local and international conferences and attending the most important Sexual Health Conferences around the world on an annual basis.
I will admit that I love the travelling, mingling with my heroes (aka world-renowned sexual health experts) and all the nerdy talk about sexuality, but ultimately I do all of this to offer the best possible service to my patients.
Here is my background:
I am the clinical head of My Sexual Health – a multidisciplinary team of Sexual Health Professionals in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town. We are a big team of Sexual Healthcare Providers and Sexologist, all registered with the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) and our applicable professional boards. I am an Executive Board member of the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA – sexualhealth) and a member of the Executive Committee for the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS – worldsexology) where I serve as the chair of the Membership Committee and the Regional Secretary for Africa.
I have been been privileged enough to be invited as plenary speaker at world conferences in Brasil, India and Prague. My research has also been presented in the USA, Portugal and various conferences in South Africa.
Academic writing is a big passion of mine and a commitment i have to colleagues and the public to produce high quality sexual health related information. I have written numerous articles (most of which are available in my blog) but my biggest achievements are co-writing a chapter in the official textbook of the European Certified Psycho-sexologists and publishing an article on Physiotherapy for Erectile Dysfunction in the International Journal for Sexual Medicine in 2017 (basically the Bible for sex-nerds like me 🙂
I have been involved in STI research with the University of Pretoria and contact research on the treatment of Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder in my practice on an ongoing basis.
I am a member of the Southern African HIV Clinician Society and regularly attend meetings to keep my knowledge regarding HIV up to date.
I love lecturing on Sexual Health. I donate my time to the Hanna Charity and Mosaiek Church by doing sexual health talks for them.
In my free time, I try to be everything a good mom and wife is expected to be to my miracle daughter, Nina and my super-supportive husband and favorite travel-buddy, Johann.
If you are looking for a fun and frank talk on any subject related to Sexual Health, I am your girl!
I have presented hundreds of talks all over the world and I am happy to say that no matter who the audience is, they always enjoy it. Talks can be highly academic where the latest research on a topic will be presented or more informal, entertaining and informative for the general public.
