I am a Medical Doctor and Sexologist working exclusively in the field of sexual medicine. Having qualified as a medical doctor in 2005 at the University of Pretoria, I have been involved in Sexual Medicine on a full-time basis since 2010.
I am extremely passionate about Sexual Health and all it entails for couples of all walks of life. My continued interest in the field of Sexual Medicine is demonstrated by my active involvement in various national and international organisations and committees, conducting research, and presenting at both local and global conferences on Sexual Health on an annual basis.
As the founder of My Sexual Health, I also serve as the clinical head of MSH – a multidisciplinary team of Sexual Health Professionals in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town. We are an extensive team of Medical and Sexual Healthcare Providers and Sexologists, all registered with the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) and our applicable professional boards. I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) under the registration number: MP0637742.
In 2009 I obtained a Higher Diploma in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine through the Colleges of Medicine in South Africa, which is the highest attainable Sexual Health qualification in the country. I was surprised to learn that I was the first doctor ever in South Africa to pass this very difficult exam.
In 2010 I obtained a Master’s Degree in Sexual Health through the University of Sydney, Australia, one of a few places in the world where a masters degree in Sexual Health can be completed in English via distance learning.
I am very proud to have become one of the first doctors to be named a Fellow of the European Committee for Sexual Medicine in 2012. This is the highest attainable qualification and registration achievable in Sexual Medicine and only a few hundred doctors from around the world hold this prestigious qualification.
I serve as Executive Board member of the Southern African Sexual Health Association (SASHA) and am a member of the Executive Committee for the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) where I serve as Chair of the Membership Committee and the Regional Secretary for Africa.
I have been privileged to be invited as plenary speaker at world conferences in Brasil, India and Prague. My research has also been presented in the USA, Portugal and various conferences throughout South Africa.
Academic research and writing remains a personal passion and ongoing commitment to both colleagues and the public to produce high quality sexual health related information, and I have written numerous articles, most of which are available on my blog. Some of my most significant achievements have been the co-writing of a chapter in the official textbook of the European Certified Psycho-sexologists and publishing an article on Physiotherapy for Erectile Dysfunction in the International Journal for Sexual Medicine in 2017 (considered widely as the ‘Bible’ for sex-nerds like me).
I have been involved in STI research at the University of Pretoria and contact research on the treatment of Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder in my practice on an ongoing basis.
I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and presenting lectures on Sexual Health. I donate my time to the Hanna Charity and Mosaiek Church by speaking about sexual health and providing information sessions to interested communities.
On a personal level, I try my best to be a good mom to our two miracle daughters Nina Neo and Nandi Mari, and a good wife to my super-supportive husband and favourite travel-buddy, Johann.
If you’re looking for a fun and frank talk on any subject related to Sexual Health, you’ve just found your next speaker!
I have presented hundreds of talks all over the world and I am happy to say that no matter who the audience is, they always enjoy it. Talks can be highly academic where the latest research on a topic will be presented or more informal, entertaining and informative for the general public.
I am registered as a GP in South Africa. I’m not a gynecologist, urologist, endocrinologist or specialist physician. My Masters Degree and Fellowship in Sexual Medicine have been internationally obtained and are not recognised as a formal specialisation by the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa).
I am the owner and clinical head of My Sexual Health (MSH) – a company that provides services to doctors working in Sexual Health. MSH also manages a multi-disciplinary team of registered healthcare providers and facilitates further education of patients and healthcare providers in the field of Sexual Medicine and Sexology.
I am the co-owner of My Sexual Health Shop which offers specialised and rare sexual health products, including custom-made medical grade silicone dilators.
The Well Family Practice is a brand developed by Dr Jeanne Aspeling and myself and I am the co-owner and a director of Drs Rudolph and Aspeling Inc.
I have done educational talks for the following pharmaceutical companies: Aspen, Bayer, GSK, Janssen, Lilly, MSD, Merck and Pfizer. I am also on the Men’s Health Advisory Board of Bayer and have received sponsorship to attend conferences from Bayer, Janssen and MSD.
The Integrative Medical Center is the facility where my practice is located in Bryantson. I have no association and no financial interest in Ascendis or the Compounding Pharmacy of South Africa, which happens to be situated on the same premises.
